2018 IDC Manufacturing Transfer

The company I worked for acquired a smaller enterprise that had traffic products that would compliment the existing product portfolio. One of the actions that came out of the initial assessment of the manufacturing facility was that it was lacking in processes and documentation. My role was to go to the facility, review all of the products, document the assembly and testing processes for each item that was going to manufactured, compile BOM’s, and generate work instructions to allow for the transfer of IP to the contract manufacturer. In addition, several of the components had to be reverse engineered and translated into current CAD programs and have drawing created for manufacturability. I also helped consolidate and inventory materials at the facility to be transferred to the contract manufacturer. The successful transfer involved transferring and getting the contract manufacturer up to speed to build the new product while the existing manufacturer wound down operations.
