2006: 2nd Gen Traffic Beacon

I started working at a technology company that designed and manufactured solar powered LED lights once I completed the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Camosun College. I was assigned to support an emergent manufacturing line producing autonomous traffic beacons. As the vertical grew, the limitations of the initial product became obvious, and a redesign was requested by management. Key objectives were to reduce cost, use a larger off the shelf battery, and create a more modular approach to assembling the final product. I undertook this project in early 2006 and delivered a product that went on to sell hundreds of thousands of units globally over the next 10 years.
